Reviews
tripadvisorWe went to see the Shen Yun performance, but the overall experience was truly disappointing. The pacing was chaotic and sluggish, the stage presentation lacked sincerity, the performers appeared unfocused, and there were glaring flaws in various details. We had high expectations, so the letdown was immense; the overall quality fell far short of what was anticipated, making it difficult to become immersed in the show.
MoreI had arranged for 10 seniors from our community to go on a private docent-led tour of the Segerstrom Center of the Arts. Our two volunteer docents, Lori and Jeff, were excellent. They were very knowledgeable, patient, and articulate in explaining the history of the center as well as many interesting facts about the theaters. The Segerstrom Center is beautiful and Lori and Jeff were excellent ambassadors for the performing arts center. The tours are free and if you do not have enough people for a private tour you can go on a Saturday morning public tour. You’ll enjoy it!
MorePlease NOTE that this review focuses on Segerstrom Hall, which is the largest venue on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus, hosting primarily large-scale ballet and Broadway musical productions. My wife and I attended a performance of the Broadway musical “Six” at Segerstrom Hall in mid-March of 2026.The building itself is stunning, with lovely architecture, a well-appointed interior and comfortable seats. It is a very large theatre, with 3,000 seats over four levels (in comparison, the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown Los Angeles seats 2,109 while the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood seats 2,703). I’ve attended many performances there in various sections of the theatre and can attest that the balcony section is extremely high, so while the sound and sightlines throughout the theatre are excellent, if you have balcony seats you may want to bring opera glasses or a small pair of binoculars. Consider whether or not it is worth it to you to spend a little extra for seats in the orchestra, terrace or loge levels. On our most recent visit we had excellent seats and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. We are pretty certain that this will not be our last visit to Segerstrom Hall.
MoreWe attended a Beautiful Noise performance. The performance was great, but there is little to no provisions at this venue for handicapped patrons. Two of the three of our party had mobility issues. We arrived early to get better parking but were directed to the closest handicapped parking 1/4 mile from the facility on the 3rd level of a $15 parking garage and had to walk in from there. No shuttles or golf carts to assist the handicapped. There were many other patrons with the same parking and accessibility issues. Once you get inside, there were few ramps and lots of stairs to reach our seats. There were no nearby restrooms to our seating area. You were forced to walk all the way around the facility to find the one restroom on our floor. The ones there were are small and had long lines for both male and female patrons. My wife got one of the listening devices which was not actually attached to their lanyard so it kept falling on the floor. This is a very beautiful facility with so much potential - unless you have mobility or other disability issues. We probably will have to weigh any future event carefully before going back. The best suggestion I can make for others with mobility issues is to use a driver service that can get you near the front doors to drop you off and pick you up later. If you are self-driving, it will be a long walk or wheelchair ride to your parking location.
MoreHamilton!!! Need I say more. If you love theatre then this venue will quickly become your favorite. Yes, for those outside of Orange County there is a commute but it is worth it! There is ease in parking, cost is reasonable and little walking. You have restaurants nearby to eat before and after the shows. You are right adjacent to the freeway. Ticket costs are consistent but I have been able to enjoy the show from every seat that I have chosen. (Similar to the Pantages inside ‘seat-view-wise’ but this is a modern venue). There can be long merchandise lines, of course. You can pre-order intermission food&drinks. We came to celebrate my teenage nephew 18 birthday! with family and friends! Bravo!!
