tripadvisorChristopher Peacock is terrific. Rosario is wonderful. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms were a little disappointing, but grounds, food, and view make up for it.
MoreIn a simple elequent way, Christopher Peacock recreates an early interesting era of history on Orcas island. The moment you walk into the mansion you feel as though you are going back in time. The stories and the music complete this glorious moment and transport you back into the early 1900’s. The trip to to this nostalgic time is worth the drive to Rosario.
MoreThis concert is free and open to anyone. I believe the days and times change throughout the year, as we went on a Wednesday, so check with the hotel. You will hear beautiful music, see fascinating slideshows of film taken 100 years ago, and get a history lesson along the way. The music hall is a beautiful room, and you can peruse the library upstairs after the concert. It lasts about an hour. It was very entertaining and enjoyable. I would encourage the performer to remember to give the names and composers of his pieces, as not everyone knows a Bach when they hear it. This is a gem on Orcas Island.
MoreThe concert played on an amazing pipe organ which was the personal organ of Mansion builder, and former shipbuilder Robert Moran! The organist was not only informative and talented but also full of humor. Along with the free organ concert photos taken by amateur photographer Robert Moran over a century ago are displayed on a screen showing Washington as it used to be....Seattle downtown, and all of the serene beauty that is still Washington. The concert and slide show last about an hour and afterward you can go upstairs to view the organ console and the library of Mr. Moran. On the same floor as the concert hall is also a museum. Don't miss this!!! check for times of the concerts as it changes seasonally.
MoreAt the Rosario Resort our host was a former elementary band teacher and gave a great presentation regarding the house, early history of the resort, and a great organ recital. Pacabel's Canon was my favorite.
