Situated along the banks of Missouri River, the Riverfront Park is a green community space unlike any others. Managed by the Port Authority of Kansas City. Cyclists and walkers alike traffic the 'joggers' track', one of the many paths that will eventually be integrated into the Heritage Trail. The large open space also doubles up as a venue for outdoor events, with the required infrastructure to accommodate the crowds.

tripadvisorGreat place to walk or bike. We needed to stretch our legs and walked along the river for awhile. Very nice park.
MoreMy friend and I bicycled along the Riverfront Heritage Trail at Berkley Riverfront, and we were very happy to see the beautification projects the city has completed to make the Riverfront a place to visit. There's an outdoor fitness station which is very well-equipped; there's also plenty of benches and lookout points where you can stop and admire the Missouri River rolling past you. There are even stools strategically placed at the edge of the path so that you can watch the drawbridge operate when a large vessel passes through!Berkley Park is lovely and green, and the Heritage Trail itself is well-designed and maintained but relatively short. We had to take the elevator up to the street level and then navigate along Main Street to 3rd Street to Madison to catch the Intercity Viaduct trail to travel further west (all the way to Kaw Point, this trip).A couple of suggestions for the city to further improve the riverfront area:1) Have public restrooms available. Port-a-potties just don't cut it anymore.2) Pave the parking lot (or at least a pathway) you must drive through to get to riverfront parking from the street. The gravel lot is poorly maintained and we had to dodge a LOT of potholes.3) Extend the Heritage Trail to the west--or at least have clear signage regarding how to link up with the Interstate Viaduct Trail. We relied on Google Maps, and there were a couple of places where we were competing with cars for space on the road. It would have been nice to have a clear bicycle path option for our travels. We'll take a few months before we return, but we're interested to go back to Berkley Riverfront and see if any upgrades have been made.
MoreI recently ran a 5K at Berkely Park - the course was wonderfully flat and most of the course is concrete sidewalks and paved walkways for sure and easy footing.
MoreIt seems every town with a river has a walk now, and this is one of the better examples. The path is generous and well-kept with a pleasant park and good river views. The exceptional bookends are the bridges -- a modern cable-stayed bridge at one end and near the other an old-fashioned counterweight-lift railroad drawbridge. A fun stroll on a pleasant afternoon.
MoreThis used to be a great park to walk and view the river front. Now this is only a great place to walk if you have a dog. If you don't have a dog, and you love to step in dog poop then this is the place for you. It's everywhere in the park, probably because of a new dog bar in close proximity. I would find another park to visit.
