We booked a double room for a wedding weekend, intending to share it with another couple. Shortly after my husband and I checked in, the front desk abruptly called to ask if the two people asking about our room were staying with us. When I confirmed they were, the employee informed me that our rate would increase because I had apparently selected one guest when booking online. I had overlooked that selection by accident and genuinely never noticed it.I found this extremely odd, as the room was listed to accommodate four people, and I have never experienced a hotel charging extra for additional guests staying within a room’s stated occupancy limit. The unexpected charge was frustrating, especially since this was only brought to my attention after check-in.When I asked for clarification, the employee put me on hold and never returned to the call. Between the unexpected fee and the poor communication, the experience left a very bad impression.

This is a great location made even better by a recent renovation. The updated rooms look great. All the personnel we encountered went out of their way to be helpful. From Tina at the front desk to the ladies in the breakfast room, they work hard with a smile on their face. And the breakfast is great! They even have someone making made to order omelets and it's included in your room rate. Much better than the vast majority of more expensive options in the area. And right next door is their bar and restaurant. Everything you need is right here in the heart of the Brandywine Valley.

Our stay at the Mendenhall Inn was all we had hoped for - and more. I have mobility issues, and Room #142 was perfect for my needs. It was a spacious room with all the amenities and a wonderfully comfortable bed. The bathroom was huge with handle bars everywhere.The staff members we met were very friendly and helpful, and the (free) breakfast was delicious. There was even an omelet station!This time we stayed there for two nights, and we definitely hope to return soon.

A great value! The Inn was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast had a wide variety of high-quality items, including an omelet-station! We paid far less than what has been our experience with hotels of this caliber. We had dinner at the restaurant associated with the Inn, and the food was excellent, and the experience was very enjoyable.

Loved this hotel! Our room was perfect and the staff was great! An excellent value, would definitely stay here again. And you can't beat the location -- close to all the Brandywine sites. Also, enjoyed our dinner at the Mendenhall Inn Restaurant.
