Planters Inn Hotel

If you're looking to combine the style of a bed and breakfast with the amenities of a hotel, the Planters Inn is a good choice. Formal and efficient, the inn is lodged in a 1912 brown brick structure, but inside, is nicely accented with antiques and fine furnishings. Among the pleasant charms of the inn are a well-maintained garden and an honor bar in the lobby, where guests may avail themselves of cocktails at their leisure, then simply mark their consumption in a ledger.

This was my second time at this hotel, and my husband’s first time. We agreed that the location was fantastic and that the staff were very friendly and accommodating. This includes the front desk and the doormen, who were gracious and good -humored. Hotel management even accommodated us when a family emergency caused a change in our plans. For that reason alone, I am loyal. That said, the place could use a little sprucing up, and the bed in 609 has a noticeable swale.

My (now) husband and I were there for our wedding on board the Georgia Queen Riverboat the week of July 17. The East Bay Inn was phenomenal. We had reserved the King Courtyard suite and loved everything about it. The room was welcoming and cozy - but very spacious, beautifully decorated, well-appointed and very clean; and the room location within the hotel was blissfully quiet. The bed was absolutely wonderful. The entire staff was amazing - so friendly, helpful and went out of their way for us, including free champaign to celebrate. Housekeepers even let our kitty out of her crate when they finished cleaning if we were gone. You couldn't pick a better location to stay in Savannah - quiet, yet within walking distance of virtually everything AND a wonderful breakfast/lunch restaurant, as well as a small bar in the same building. We can't say enough good things about East Bay Inn, and it will be our only Savannah hotel.

This hotel is very conveniently located and has a nice, friendly staff. Having said that, I could not help but notice that everything from the elevators to the room was badly in need of maintenance. There was chipped paint, scratches and dings as well as dust on almost everything. Bathroom was very small and my view was of a parking garage. The evening wine and cheese offering was minimal , although the piano player was a nice touch. Overall, I don't think I would choose to stay here again.

Great little hotel conveniently located on Wesley Square within easy access of lots of Savannah's attractions. Old world / Southern charm ambiance with a great happy hour where hotel guests make new lasting friendships. Staff was friendly and helpful

Let me start with the positives. The front desk, valet and other hotel staff were super friendly and informative. The valet was careful with our car, which was parked across the street in a secure facility. The hotel is just a few steps from the downtown historic district, near restaurants, jazz clubs, SCAD facilities. The price was quite good for Savannah. Now, the downsides. The hotel smelled dusty, musty and mildewy. The paint was chipped in several places, so much so that I was concerned about lead exposure. That much being said, you don't go to Svannah to sit in your hotel room. If you are willing to tolerate some dust in order to get a reasonably priced hotel near downtown, this is a good option.
