tripadvisorWe went on the Historic Lighthouse Tour of Green's Ledge & Sheffield Island Lighthouses. We had spectacular weather and the entire 5 hours flowed from one activity to the next without a hitch. We spent time at each lighthouse & could go inside each lighthouse which was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us. (perhaps would have loved a bit more time at Green's Ledge). Time at Sheffield Island was leisurely so we could explore the property & the beaches. The day was very well organized with very energetic and helpful staff who were happy to share their knowledge of these unique lighthouses.Highly recommend!
MoreYou're on a boat, looking at islands, eating and drinking snacks you brought alone, with minimal-yet-interesting commentary and looking at the sun set over the water. Heaven on, well, water!Helpful tips: (1) Get there early! We arrived at the published 6:15 boarding time to find ourselves almost the last people to arrive, but the captain encouraged people to move so we could sit together (and it turned out to be the best seat on the boat - at the very bow, and we could swing our legs around the bench and look out over the water instead of at 48 other people).(2) The seating is hard benches. Some people might want to bring a cushion.(3) There is a rest room on board the boat, although nothing at the dock.(4) We were glad we brought snacks that were easy to eat - no tables and our sold out boat left little room on the seats to place containers.(5) The captain is terrific and does his best to navigate wakes from other boats to avoid turbulence ... but it's not a bad idea to hold your beverage carefully. I hope the fellow sitting near me was able to get the red wine stain out of his white shirt!(6) Sunscreen! They have other cruises during the day that I will definitely check out in the future.
MoreIt was a terrific way to wind down after a long week - a cruise to the lighthouse and to watch the sun go down. Packed a load of cheese , crackers, wine and spent a relaxed couple of hours seeing a different slice of the Norwalk River LSI and even the distant Manhattan skyline.
MoreAmazing musical sunset cruise last evening: Acoustic Wednesday Cruise through Norwalk Seaport Association: CJ TOTH ACOUSTIC CRUISE with Joni & The Keepers. Bring your own food and drink, sit back, listen to great music, enjoy sites around Long Island Sound as you watch the sun go down. What better way to enjoy an evening!
