tripadvisorI visited this spot this past weekend. Because I had heard a lot of good things. I don't have anything good to say. The place was hot, smoky and smelly. Instead of a band they had a guy singing Karoke on the 4th of July. The holday weekend you don't have a band is not a good look. The food was cold by the time the bartendar brought it to me. I have nothing good to say about this place. The entertainment and the food suck.
MoreLoved this place because of the fantastic bartender and the fantastic music. It's typical of any/all the tourist traps in this section of Memphis, but they do offer a great experience for the cost of doing business with them. Of all the spots I visited on Beale Street, this one was my absolute favorite. I will return. (Note: they are affiliated with Rum Boogie Cafe next door, and restrooms are located there.)
MoreWe ordered three frozen margaritas at Blue Note Juke Joint – they cost us $49 and were absolutely terrible. Tasteless, watered down, and we couldn’t even taste a drop of alcohol in them. For that price, we expected at least a decent drink, not a glorified slushie. It felt like a complete bump – nothing “Blue Note” about it, just blue. Don’t waste your time or money here. Really disappointed and won’t be back.
MoreThis small dive bar on Beale St is gritty and authentic, and has some great blues bands on its books...probably the best we experienced in Memphis. The drinks are relatively cheap but you have to pay a $5 cover charge (which is also good at the Rum Boogie Cafe next door). The only downside for us is that they seemed to have quite a relaxed policy when it comes to smoking indoors.
MoreRelatively small bar with the band at the far end of the room. Friday night had Baunie and Soul playing and there were very good. On the way in the doorman handed me a card that said Support the Blues in large print. The smaller print it said there was a $5 cover that would be paid at the bar with your first drink. Other establishments on Beale Street charge the cover at the door so you have the option. Domestic beers were $6/$7.
