tripadvisorAlice, the trolley driver, was a delight, laughing and singing while we toured Anchorage. The city is a fascinating place full of history and distinctly different from most cities of similar size. Don't miss it.
MoreFirst of all, a city tour of Anchorage involves mother nature. You'll go to Earthquake Park. Check out the sea planes on the lake. Get a birds-eye view of the municipality from the look out at Flattop mountain. With the exception of the mountain look out, all of these sights can be seen in the one-hour Anchorage trolley tour.
MoreSo we show up at the coffee shop, and it was a bit hinky: nice lady greeted us and made a couple of phone calls about getting us on the tour. The van was late, and we were thinking this was all a bit sketchy. But it was a delight. The van was late because it was picking people up at hotels. The driver, Levi, was informative and comical, and it was a very nice 2-1/2 hour tour (actually closer to 3 hours). Levi was flexible about the schedule, gave us some lessons in history, and even dropped us off at a restaurant of our choosing.Great tour, good value.
MoreWe were at the airport and had several hours to wait for our bus to take us to our cruise ship. We called Anchorage City Tours and they were able to come within 20 minutes to pick us up at the airport. (Clean, newer, comfortable van.) Our driver was HUGH and since we were the only customers on the trip, he was able to tell us about Anchorage and answer any questions that we had. We were able to see many of the sights around town and to feel like we learned about Anchorage before we got on the bus to go to Whittier for the cruise. This was well worth the money it cost. Probably would have been almost as much to take a taxi from the airport, but we were able to see much more than just downtown. A great way to have a ride around Anchorage after you arrive at the airport. Thanks Hugh!
