Reviews
tripadvisorI had a very unpleasant experience with management during my stay here. There is a management issue here.
MoreThe staff was friendly, and we enjoyed our stay here as it was attached to the Galleria and right next door to the Museum of Illusion. Our 2 queen room was very large and quiet. We didn't know about the resort fee ahead of time, but it included 2 free tickets to the Museum of Illusion (which we used) and 2 free Galleria ice skating tickets (which we didn't use). We were given $15 daily to use in the restaurant or bar, but we were never able to redeem these, unfortunately. We left early every morning and arrived back late at night. I liked that they had a place to recycle things in the room. My only complaints with our stay were that they forgot our rollaway bed so we had to wait for that. It came fairly quickly though once we notified them. The second was the lack of ice in the ice machine in the hallway. It was nearly 100 degrees every day we were there so we really could have used some ice in our water bottles. I tried 2 different floors and gave up looking after that. My last complaint was that there were not enough outlets and also only 1 hook in the bathroom for towels. This was definitely not enough! I saw other places where a hook could have been hung. This is typical of lots of hotels though. They figure only one person will need to hang a wet towel. Other than all that, we would stay again.
MoreI think it is official, Marriott hotels treat veterans and government employees with substandard service. This is the 3rd time I have checked in at a Houston Marriott, Westin, & JW Marriott, where I have been checked in differently because I have a service dog and I am on the government rate. FOR THIS STAY, First I could not find my government ID, the check in woman kept repeating, I will give you a warning but you need your government picture ID. I finally found my ID. But she repeated it to my 5 times, I guess because she thought I was less intelligent than the average person. I have over70 nights at Marriotts (this year so far) yet I was placed on the “dog” floor because I have a service dog and not offered an upgrade like the other 2 guests behind me. My keys didn’t work in the elevator (I tried 2 different ones) and when I returned to the desk and told her, she said “you did it wrong.” Not sure how you mess up holding a key to a reader, but obviously the keys didn’t work. I asked her why I didn’t get the same treatment as the other guests and she replied with “ma’am, I reviewed your amenities with you.” I explained she didn’t and she basically called me a liar. I am so done with Marriotts and will be making sure the government knows Marriott hotels are discriminating against disabled veterans and treating government employees like we are less than important as others. Great job Marriott!
MoreI was disappointed with this hotel. The decor felt dated and budget-level, closer to a Motel 6 than what I expected. The room also didn’t have enough modern charging options. The main option seemed to be plugging into an outdated lamp, but the charger on it didn’t even work. The bathroom was also disappointing. The tile looked dated and poorly installed, and there was rust in the bathtub. The bedding was uncomfortable as well: the pillows were hard, and the comforter was strangely heavy.Overall, it felt like the hotel made a half-hearted attempt at renovation by adding new carpet and a few basic cabinets, while leaving bigger issues untouched.
MoreClean, friendly staff and concierge. Not responsive to requests though.
