tripadvisorOverall, it was an interesting and fun tour. The scripted banter between hipster Valencia and hippie Moonbeam sometimes falls a bit flat, but as a framing device, the presentation is mostly successful, and it keeps the tour from getting dull. The midpoint stop at The Velvet Freeze daquiri bar for a break was fun, too (Twerk at your own risk, the signs say). Wish I had a list of the names of all the famous/infamous women they talked about...some of the stories definitely bear further reading, but I didn't take notes! In summary, if you can appreciate the scripted presentation and a few lame jokes, this will be a fun way to learn more about the herstory of Kansas City.
MoreThis was a HOOT! Wendy and Jessica pack the time with so much terrific information about women who played pivotal roles in the city’s founding and growth — facts you never learned in history class. And Wendy and Jessica are hilarious! The tour takes you all around downtown and east KC in comfort. You even stop for frozen adult beverages! The interesting facts are woven into clever (true!) stories, and you come away amazed at the creativity and courage of these women. You’ll never think of Kansas City the same way. A very fair price for a terrific, educational experience. Highly recommended!
MoreWe had a really great, feel-good time on the trolley with this tour! Some great information about the women who built this city and quite a few giggles thrown in for good measure. Stopping for a delicious daiquiri break on a hot day was a very refreshing interlude, and the trivia game was a hoot!
MoreI went with a group of women and did not laugh even once. Had to force a tiny smile once in a while when I thought the leaders were working hard to try and make it funny. The information presented was interesting and informative but the unfunny banter between the two leaders was so terrible I could not stand it. Yikes - it was scripted and the women worked hard for 2 hours talking and making terrible jokes. It was absolutely dreadful.
MoreI went with my friends and was my first trolley experience so I didn't know what to expect. It was longer than I thought it would be but I didn't even notice because I was well entertained. I have lived in Kansas City all my life but I didn't know much history about it and they teach it to you in a very enjoyable way. Bring a hipster decoding book with you cause Valencia throws out some anagrams I've never heard (she tells you what they mean :p) but both of the hosts are obviously very knowledgable about the city and must be good at improv because there is no lull in their performance should you be stopped in traffic for a bit. They share information about famous women who came from or helped make Kansas City what it is today but they do it in a way where once the trolley ride is done, you kinda wish they could show you more lol. You get to ride around and see the city from Union Station all the way to the Jazz District in 18th and Vine where you get to take a break and grab a quick drink (If you go for the alcoholic slushies... the one name 18th and Vine is really good) then its back on the trolley to learn some more. Not only was it a fun experience, but there are also many things to do and see after since they drop you off back at Union Station which is in Downtown KC. You got Crown Center right across the street and the street cars can take you all the way to the River Market. If you are looking to do something and want to see the city while laughing and learning, you should definitely choose the Crazy Little Woman Tour.
