Great Hall Union Station
Union Station Great Hall Building

Union Station Great Hall is a historical structure with a brick-like form for its exterior and neo-classical touches in the interiors. This enormous barrel-vaulted hall is 11,000 sq. feet in size and has a capacity of accommodating 430-700 people. It is wonderful to attend a function in the spacious hall complete with gilt, high coffered ceiling and the mosaic-tiled floor. Apart from being an architectural delight, this place is also rented out for weddings, parties, meetings and other social functions. Many events like the Chinese New Year have been held here.

Built at the turn of the 20th century it has a typical very large and ornate waiting hall. It is no longer linked to the rail network, though there are some very helpful guides around to answer any questions you may have. Well worth 20 minutes to have a look at some history

Union Station is a look into past times. The Great Hall is open to the public and well worth a visit. Clean and steeped in history.

Union Station Great Hall is worth a visit if you look old American buildings. It's very large inside and the restoration is quite nice.

It's quieter now than in it's past, but still a great place to use a clean restroom, find respite from the weather and apparently rent for a posh downtown party. The security guard was nice and helped point me in the right direction as I was headed from Chinatown to Occidental Square. Stop in to see what a real metropolitan train station from the past looked like.
