When it was built in 1914, this 42-story downtown tower was the tallest building west of the Mississippi. In 1962, the 605-foot Space Needle outreached it, and for many years afterwards, the Seattle skyline was bracketed by these two spires. Today Smith Tower, with its many windows and ornate pyramid top, is still a beloved Seattle edifice. Anybody can waltz in to take an old-fashioned ride in one of the eight brass-caged, manually operated elevators. The 35th floor observation deck has lovely views.

tripadvisorDon’t bother! We went to the Boozy Afternoon Tea. The food was mediocre and repetitive (three sandwiches that all tasted the same, store bought low quality mini quiches that all tasted pretty much the same and two scones that we could not tell the difference between). Sure it’s a great view, but you can see the same views other ways and without such a huge expense. For $125 per person we were expecting something special. Take yourself to one of Seattles many cafes instead.
MoreThe tour we were on was listed as lasting 45 minutes but we were actually with our tour guide Spencer for much longer. Spencer was engaging, personable and humorous.
MoreI am 70 and have lived in Seattle my entire life and have never gone to the Smith Tower! It was so very enjoyable. I still can't believe the walls of Mexican Onyx. Stunning. We did the live tour and our tour guide, Richard was extremely knowledgeable, spoke clearly and explained its history in a way that was enjoyable and easy to understand. We ended the tour by having a cocktail in the bar on the Observatory level. It was a wonderful drink that matched the fantastic view. Great day to live in Seattle
MoreA great group dinner experience. Tickets for the Smith Tower Visitor Experience were included with our event, so we enjoyed the sunset view, the museum, and the atmosphere. A section of their lounge area was reserved for our party, which created a social and fluid environment for the team retreat. The food and beverage menu was excellent from cocktails, mocktails, appetizers, sliders, and desserts. A wonderful introduction to Seattle.
MoreWe took the guided tour on Friday evening. Our tour guide Patrick was outstanding! Very friendly, smart and funny. The bar on the 35th floor observation deck was great. Good service and great views. Highly recommend the guided (speaking) tour. This is a must visit when you travel to Seattle.
