St James Cathedral Catholic Church

Parish church for a vibrant faith community with a long history that reaches back to Seattle's early days. We are an inner-city parish with an outreach to many who live on the edge of poverty and loneliness. We are a diverse community that welcomes, accepts, and celebrates the differences we all bring. We exist in the heart of the city, yet sometimes our parishioners come from considerable distances to worship here. St. James Cathedral is a crossroads where ideas and challenges both old and new are explored in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our Cathedral is also the center for many cultural and ecumenical events which both reflect and help to shape a vital metropolitan community. Above all, St. James Cathedral is a community of prayer.

Attended mass on the St James the apostle celebration day! The Mass was lively, the church is beautiful…. And everyone was very friendly. We truly enjoyed attending Mass there today! The choir brought tears to my eyes!

This is a lovely Catholic cathedral built a century ago on First Hill overlooking downtown Seattle.

The outside of the cathedral is magnificent. The large entrance doors are similar to those that one would see on cathedrals in Europe. Inside are beautiful stained-glass windows and beautiful statues and sculptures. I recommend a visit to this cathedral.

This is a very pretty cathedral with lovely stained glass and art. I attended the Sunday evening mass and was treated to an amazing women's choir that greatly added to the liturgy. While it's walkable from downtown, it is up a pretty steep hill. A nice cathedral with beautiful music!

Visited the Frye Museum nearby and decided to take a quick look at this cathedral. Nice and tranquil on a Saturday afternoon. A bonus is a small ensemble practicing in the church - and the acoustics is outstanding. So certainly worth a quick stop if you are in the vicinity - and if there is music, enjoy.
