Situated by the Patapsco River, Harbor Point Central Plaza in Baltimore is an open-air park and an event venue that plays host to numerous community, social and performing arts events throughout the year. You can take a walk on the paved walkways under the shade of tall trees lining the street on both sides while at this park. Harbor Point Central Plaza is breezy at almost all times making it a ideal spot for many in the city, including the many employees working in the nearby corporate buildings, to simply sit and relax. The view of the Harbor on Patapsco River from this park is spectacular.

tripadvisorPass! Really small area! Doesn’t have much space for a decent event to be held. Parking lot is nearby and convenient though.
MoreI was expecting the park to provide a scenic and peaceful view of the harbor. What I found was a well maintained space with low-cut brown grass, but nice stone walks and seats and trees. There was so much construction going on around that there was no clear view, and the noise level was high. That said, I saw rolled up strings of lights under the trees, implying that a recent event may have taken place. In fact, this space looks perfect for such activities. One person with a baby stroller was seen seated ,but otherwise, only workers in orange vests and hard hats were the only people around. I suspect this park will come into its glory once the nearby construction is complete.
MoreWe attended the Harbor Point Ice Festival 2019 in the Harbor Point Central Plaza. We parked in the adjacent lot using the premiumparking website to reserve our spot ahead of time in the advertised lot P2305. Finding the parking lot that was assigned to us was somewhat difficult. We later discovered that ALL numbered lots were connected even though numbered differently. Once we parked, we made our way up a set of stairs to the Central Plaza. Ice Festival 2020: Here we saw 5 different sculptors making ice sculptures. We also saw several pre-made ice sculptures throughout the park. In addition there was an ice throne made of ice, a few games made of ice and a slide made out of ice. The ad for the festival showed adults on the ice slide so I was excited to try this. However, when we arrived, we discovered that the slide is actually a small slide for children. So that was a little misleading and disappointing. The line for the ice slide was REALLY long. We probably stood in line for 20-30 minutes for the slide. They also had an ice wall where you could carve your name into the wall. The line for it was equally long, as were the lines to sit on the ice throne, go in the FREE Frozen themed bounce house and get your face painted for FREE. ALL lines were LONG. They also advertised FREE hot chocolate for children. However, the table was empty most of the time we were there. We kept getting told it would be another 20 minutes. There was another stand selling hot cocoa for like $5 a cup. The FREE hot chocolate did finally show up, but it was not that great. Kids did not like it. The only line that was not terribly long was the one for the FREE craft table. Here the kids made a picture of Olaf using a paper plate and construction paper of sorts. Another give away was FREE Harbor Point mugs if you stood in line and told them the name of the area that the ice festival was taking place. They advertised that there would be a strolling performer Naturally, we assumed it would be the original ICE Princess (Elsa) since they had a Frozen Bounce House and an Elsa Ice Sculpture. However, it ended up being a generic Ice Queen that was rather eccentric. There were several food trucks on hand should anyone wish to purchase food or beverages. Line for the food trucks were somewhat long. AND the line for the bar truck was REALLY long. There were even a vendors selling market items. Nothing was really too impressive. There was also a DJ, Justin ICEnroad, there pumping out tunes for the guests. Music was LOUD especially by the bounce house, which is unfortunate since parents had to stand there in line and wait there as their children played. Overall, we thought the plaza itself was rather nice. It is a green space in the city AND it sits along the edge of the harbor (view of the water & downtown inner harbor area). Right now there are several large pay parking lots. I do not think they are cheap on a daily basis, however, for the festival they were offering a good deal $5 for 5 hours. I'm not sure what it looks like on a regular day, but it was nice for the event. The ice festival was a nice idea and we enjoyed parts of it. We liked the ice sculpture competition. We also liked the overall idea of the event. I LOVE anything with a winter theme that makes you feel like you have stepped into a Hallmark Christmas movie. However, this fell short on overall experience. Many people visiting were unnecessarily rude. We saw people cutting in line for the Ice Throne. We witnessed children literally hanging on the Elsa sculpture and vandalizing the other ice sculptures. Within 2 hours of us arriving, several of the ice sculptures had been completely destroyed by unruly kids who were not being monitored by their parents. We witnessed a parent cut down a helium balloon decoration beside the bounce house. He punched a hole in the balloon, inhaled the helium and fell over into the bounce house with the pocket knife still in his hand! It really was NOT the magical experience I thought it could be. I guess that is what you get for FREE. I would like to see MORE ice sculptors in the competition, more security and less riff raff.
