tripadvisorA converted school turned into lofts. Still with blackboards that slide up to shelves for clothes. A kitchen and fridge and even a hot plate. A large shower and jacuzzi tub (at least in our room), a king size bed, large tv, and completely touchless entrances and check in. Checkin is done via email and text as is billing to credit card. You will receive direction and a map to the parking lot. A code to enter building and your room and text to enter room. Big open space in room. We peeked into some empty rooms via the door windows (remember, old school) all looked amazing. Close to museums. Walking distance to many great restaurants.
MoreThis is our go to place in Rochester. Dog friendly spacious, more like studio apartments. Bathrooms beautiful and large(the ones we have stayed in) Price very reasonable. Only negative for some may be the stairs. Studio is on first level lofts are up many stairs and there is no elevator
MoreLast year, while in the middle of a major move from Maine to Colorado, I accidentally booked five rooms at School 31 Lofts for the wrong city. I realized the mistake quickly and called less than 24 hours later to cancel and rebook in Albany, where we actually needed to stay.Instead of helping correct an honest error — and despite the bookings being made under 24 hours earlier — they refused to cancel and charged my card $1,198.30. No flexibility, no courtesy, and no willingness to work with a customer who made a simple mistake during an already stressful move.I strongly urge future guests to be very cautious when booking with School 31 Lofts. Their policies are rigid, and their customer service was extremely disappointing.
MoreAbsolutely amazing and unique experience from start to finish! The hotel was spotless—super clean and clearly well-maintained. Every corner felt fresh and inviting. The staff were not only professional but also genuinely warm and welcoming, going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. From check-in to check-out, the service was seamless. The attention to detail, both in the rooms and common areas, was impressive. Whether you're staying for business or leisure, this hotel offers comfort, charm, and hospitality that truly stands out. Highly recommend and will definitely return!
MoreWe have stayed at School 31 Lofts three times now, and plan on coming back. We have 3 teens, and we love the funky vibe and the location. It is walking distance to restaurants, museums and activities we enjoy. We've stayed in rooms large enough for all 5 of us, and also just 2 of us. Advice:- Select your room by using their button to see photos of each individual room. They have different levels of privacy, some different amenities and layouts, so it's worth scrutinizing before making your choice. Especially the smallest rooms lack bathroom privacy and storage/luggage space. - Sound travels. There was a loud group of guests in an adjacent unit that annoyed us only one night of our various stays, and we reported the situation to the concierge. It was quiet by 11:30pm.
