Cooperatives have been around since the early 1400s. They are owned and operated by the community, making them reflective of a community's values and supportive in various aspects of life. Not only does a food cooperative help us make healthier choices, it can help educate and strengthen the bond between consumer and source. Food cooperatives are also a great way to get access to uncommon foods, namely local and sustainably produced ingredients. So don't think of the Anacortes Food Coop as just another store, because this is our store, and we strive to give back to the community.
