We had a great time and recommend this tour. Very exciting and a lot of interesting facts. John gives a fun and informative account of the rise and fall of organized crime during prohibition in Chicago. Again recommend this tour to anyone that loves Chicago, history and the fascination with Gangsters.

If you like history then this won’t disappoint. Takes you all around Chicago pointing out significant areas and telling stories and anecdotes about the prohibition and the gangsters that controlled Chicago. Good way to see parts of the city you normally wouldn’t get to.

John Binder is a very well spoken tour guide. He has written two books on the subject of Chicago Prohibition and Gangsters. He can answer many of the questions you have about a time when the 'Outfit' had a stronghold on the City. A stronghold that may not have ever truly went away. They may have just seemingly went 'legit' Who truly knows?? I don't think I want too!! I was a little disappointed at the were water bottles provided or any bathroom breaks on the trip. I have been on other tours where these were taken into consideration. This may seem trivial to some but I am disabled the tour does take a bit over 3 hours. Other than that, the tour is Very good. I would recommend this to anyone!! It is well worth it! We got great photos and as I stated, John is willing to answer questions and has pictures of what the city looked like by then as well as the famous mobsters who controlled it.

John Binder has given our families the very best tours in his city that we have ever experienced in other North American, South American and European cities. Yes, our family and friends prepare when the tour syllabus John develops is agreed. We give John our ideas and his syllabi are always what we want to learn, see and do. John Binder’s vivid descriptions excited our imaginations. We had lunch at the Hawthorne Inn in Cicero restaurant at the table where Al Capone sat for lunches with his back to the wall and eyes on the clientele. We could experience an irate Al Capone throw the Cicero mayor down the front steps of its city hall! We envisioned the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre from Entry to exit. We could see what was happening on all of the floors of Lexington Hotel. We were there as Frank McErlane first used the Thompson machine gun against a rival. We also did lost theatre and movie tours, Prairie Street and architecture tours. Needless to say, John Binder is our go-to person for our tours in Chicago. He is a professor of business and gave us depth of history and financial background for Prohibition and the Chicago mob scene. I hope you can enjoy a day or more with him.
