tripadvisorI'm a season ticket holder. Respectfully, I suggest that at least one of Harlequins productions was so fast paced that it was stated over and over before the show started that anyone who left the theater for any reason would not be reseated in their assigned seat upon their return so as to not disturb the other patrons. This particular show had probably 50 vignettes and patrons would have missed entire ones if they had to accommodate someone crawling past their knees. The date noted below is not when this show was presented.
MoreI am a big supporter of local theatre, but have never experienced something like this. I paid for my seat, but after having to use the restroom an hour into a show with no intermission, I wasn't allowed to sit back down, even though the theater was half empty. This is not a good policy for them.
MoreWe've been going to the Harlequin for several years, maybe 10 years, to the annual Christmas Stardust musicals. The quality of the shows have declined over the past three. We attended the 1940s Radio Show last Thursday. It was amusing at times, but the actors and musicians were mediocre, at best, and not as entertaining as it used to be. Too bad. Not worth the $72.00 for the two tickets.
MoreAttended first date last night with my wife and two of our friends. The show was absolutely fabulous. First date had lots of clever puns, modern references, and great music. There is beer and wine and mixed drinks available during intermission and before the show. There are also delicious cookies...but you cant take them in the theater (wah wah). If you sit in the front rows, be prepared for some in your face action. Live theater is the beast theater.
MoreI saw Glenn Close on Broadway last month, in Sunset Boulevard. I also saw Aaron Lamb and Helen Harvester in Noel Coward's Present Laughter at the Harlequin in Olympia. I enjoyed the second show far more. Why?1) Glenn Close was so far away I needed binoculars. I could have reached out and touched Aaron and Helen.2) Sunset Boulevard was all about Glenn Close. Present Laughter was about Present Laughter, a classic and hilarious farce.3) It cost a lot less to go to Present Laughter three times than it did to go to the Palace once. Go to the Harlequin!
