Clean, quiet, and perfectly serviceable. The two things I would change are the pillows and the layout of the coffee at breakfast. For some reason, the pillows aren't the normal rectangle size and shape like people have at home. They're closer to square. It was awkward, especially when they got sweat-damp in the night. Why not have normal pillows? And the coffee setup is in the inner corner of the L-shaped breakfast area, so not only can only one person get to it at a time, but someone getting coffee means no one else can get milk or almost anything else. This would be an easy fix. Move the coffee almost anywhere else. The sink was in the main room, separate from the shower and toilet, which is a really helpful design.

First, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We arrived without reservations and the only room available at all was a smoking room. We are non-smokers. She offered to show us so we could decide. Honestly, it smelled more like smoke in the hallway than the room. So, we took it.Room was clean and comfortable, more than adequate for us. Space for our horse trailer in the parking lot. Easy access to downtown area, which was really nice.

I stayed here for three nights in early May - a brief getaway to a place I've not visited before, choosing among towns with highly-rated Quality Inns. Ultimately, the deciding factor was that this hotel was originally built as an AmeriHost Inn, a chain that I was always curious about as a teenager, but which was phased out before I could stay at one. So staying at a highly-rated one, even with a different sign out front, was an opportunity I wasn't going to pass up. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, even if weather prevented me from touring the area as much as I would have liked. My original booking was for a second floor whirlpool suite - unique in that they feature a balcony that overlooks the indoor pool area. But upon learning that the only one available for my stay was a smoking unit, I settled for a nonsmoking whirlpool suite located on the first floor instead. This unit, # 123, is on the opposite end of the building from the lobby/pool area. It's set up as one spacious room with king bed, whirlpool, sofa, upholstered chair, and the usual amenities like large TV, work desk, microwave, and refrigerator. The hotel appears to have been renovated fairly recently, as wear and tear on the in-room furniture was minimal. The TV is mounted pretty high up on the wall, but there was still enough room behind it to hook up an HDMI device (Nintendo Switch), albeit with a bit of stretching. The TV remote was a universal one, so while the TV could read data from a USB flash stick, the remote wouldn't let me move the cursor or select items on the menu. The wi-fi signal wasn't the strongest, possibly because I was at the end of the building. At least it only reset once a day, instead of every few hours like at some other Quality Inns. And speeds were good when the signal was strong enough. My only other, very minor nitpick would be that the nightstands were a bit on the small size.Otherwise, I was very pleased with the cleanliness and condition of my suite. The bed was comfortable, everything worked properly, and the room lighting was excellent as well (the suite had overhead lighting, which you don't typically see in hotel rooms, so perhaps this suite was originally a conference room in its AmeriHost days?)I'm also pleased to report that this location continues to offer an actual hot breakfast, with meat (sausage) and even hash browns. Any hotel that offers fried potatoes in any form for breakfast scores bonus points with me. Every staff member I spoke with was very professional and friendly - the manager even told me that I was one of the best guests he's had in awhile, which is always a great thing to hear.Although I didn't take a swim, I did wander around the indoor pool area for a bit. A signature part of the original AmeriHost design, it's an interesting space with its wood-paneled walls and balconies from those second floor suites. It also still has an operational hot tub - a quickly-disappearing amenity even in higher end hotels. Out in front is a patio area with picnic tables and grill. The Quality Inn of Wooster has earned a string of Gold and Platinum Awards from Choice in recent years, and for good reason - my stay was consistently excellent from start to finish. From the exceptionally clean and well-maintained suite and public spaces, to the great free breakfast and wonderful service from the staff, I strongly recommend staying at this Quality Inn if your travels take you to this part of Ohio - or if you're looking for someplace new to explore and a quaint small town is what you're leaning towards. Next time, though, I'm going to try to snag that second floor balcony suite that's non-smoking before it sells out.
