The type of food served is more than what you expect with a quality that sets it apart from the average or a restaurant chain. It is GREAT! All food is prepared onsite rather than just cooked here. Hand pressed burgers (really messy and good), ½ Broasted Chicken (not cut up), and the fish & chips that we brag about. Specials are great or even unique. The Beach is known for an old-time tavern atmosphere and its beloved regulars.

tripadvisorThis is a fun place to go for good food and friendly people. May I suggest the burger, it is a mouth watering delight, and there are Wednesday dinner specials that need to be tried. The clam chowder served on Fridays and Mondays have been rated as the best in town.
MoreJust had the worst experience at this location. The bartenders outright lack a general understanding of customer service. Walked in thinking we could dine in and get a drink with our children. The bartender told us it was 21 and up. They said we could go to the other side and get food, so no big deal, we change our plans and go next door, planning to just order food and go sit by the water. While we were waiting for food my brother-in-law and I go back to the bar to get drinks as we wait. The bartender asked us if we wanted a table and said there was one around the corner. She asked us for our ids. I walked back to the deli side to get my ID from my sister who had stayed with the kids and left my brother-in-law. His is ID had a hole punch as he's waiting on a new one so they said they couldn't serve him. So my sister and I went in instead. We showed the bartender our ids and start to walk to the table the woman had just two minutes before told us to sit at... as we're walking she barks excuse me, did you want a table? Confused I responded you just told us to come to this table? She sucks her teeth and says yeah, someone is sitting there now, did you want me to clean a table for you? We're trying to patronize this establishment... so yes, we clearly want a table. And if in the two min that we were sorting out IDs if something had changed, then per an appropriate customer service standard, there was definitely a better way to go about conveying this situation. We tell her yes we'd like a table. She walks us past a clean table and she begrudgingly wipes down the table right next to it. For us at this point it's obvious we're not welcome. You can't argue social distancing here because the clean table was further away from any of the other already seated tables. We start to sit at the table and before we're even fully seated she says do you know what you want? I mean... fairly certain that's not how you go about procuring someone's order? To remove myself from this clear aggression I tell the woman we need a moment. She rolls her eyes and walks away. My sister at this point wants to leave. When the woman comes back I order a Bloody Mary. The woman returns to the table and places the drink and the tab down simultaneously. A tab placed with a drink is passive aggressive way of asking a patron to leave. I drink my drink and leave $6. The drink was $6 and in no way did I feel obligated to tip. The Bloody Mary was actually pretty good, and I may have had more, but it was obvious, through so many signs, we were not welcome. As we are walking out I hear the bartender say good, leave, and don't come back. I turn around and ask the woman I'm sorry, what did you say? My sister also having heard what the woman said comes back in and confronts the two women behind the bar. They are both smirking and laughing so she asks who the manager is, they reply that they are both managers. My sister informs them that their snarky remark as we exited was uncalled for and childish. I understand being upset about not being tipped, but I was always taught TIPS are To Insure Proper Service, and that is most definitely not what we recieved. I sincerely hope that these women saying that they were managers was a lie, because that is just ignorant staffing if this is who you choose to represent your company. We joined my brother-in-law next door and my sister spoke with the cook to see if there was anyone on shift she could speak to about the behavior of the two bartenders next door, he was agreeable and told us the owner would be in the next morning. As my sister is recounting how we were treated one of the bartenders pokes her head through a service window and starts yelling at us. I can not even express how unprofessional this was. I've been in the industry for over 20 years, and have worked all around the country, in all ranges of the service industry, dive to fine dining, and am currently a bartender in a major city during this unprecedented situation of a pandemic, so please understand that when I say these women were rude and petty and failed at their job... it is most definitely not because anyone in our party was being a Karen.
MoreLong time established Tavern/Bar on Titlow Beach. A must see and experience area of Tacoma, WA - on the shores of Titlow Beach/Park the views abound. Look out across the waters of the Puget Sound and watch the sun set behind the Olympic Mountains in the horizon. The staff are always friendly and the food, is good for bar type food. The Beach Tavern Burger is very good and the fish & chips are popular. The chili is TOO HOT/SPICY, they need to tone it down a bit.
MoreHave been going there for years and it is always nice to see Linda. She has worked there 32 years. Just about the time I started going there. The deep fried chicken and jo's is to die for. Not many places still make that. Always a favorite when I am in town. Nice to go back to your home town and something is still the same!
MoreI like the Tavern every time I go. The service is good, the atmosphere is friendly. You can easily talk with strangers. The prices are reasonable. A fun place for an after work drink.
