tripadvisorHad a terrible experience at Continental Suite. The crowd is cheap, and the management is cheap. Please, guys, never ever come here. It’s completely useless, and the management is worthless. We had already made a booking, but they took a booking from someone else as well. We were there with our family, and we were thrown out. They don't even know how to talk properly. The food is absolutely bad—third class, and the rooms are third class.
MoreRoom was spacious and had a beautiful view. Clean and well supplied. Reunion food was great. Breakfast food was good but the side items (bagels, fruit etc.) , were not replenished frequently enough. This was odd as facility was fully booked. Sound system was lacking as we could not hear the music in the buffet/bar area.Lots of stairs, in and out of all areas. Luckily we were near the only ramp access to the 2nd floor of our building. Not very handicap friendly in general.Overall beautiful place to stay.
MoreMy review of Club Continental in Orange Park, FL. My wife and I visited the Club Continental for a weekend to attend a wedding at this establishment. Let me make sure you understand this is not a review of the wedding at all.First, we checked in on a Friday afternoon for a Sunday wedding. Check in was OK, but a bit strange. No front desk, just a person in an office with our key and not much information. Basically, we left to ourselves, that’s OK but would real its head later in the stay.We had the “Tower Suite”. It looked nice on the website, so we said why not. However, this is the biggest problem I had all weekend. There was no notification that there was not an elevator within 5 miles. This place is most definitely non-ADA compliant. I don’t see how they get away with it. We had to climb 22 stairs to the second level and then another tight staircase of 16 stairs (picture included). The suite was nice, but the air conditioning could not keep the unit cool. There were not many plugs at all so bring a strip. 3 rooms, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. Bedroom was nice with king size bed. Never got cool. Kitchen nice but no instructions about what to do with utensils or anything. There was a twin bed in the kitchen!?!?!? Two televisions that did not work. Bathroom was OK. Never got tub stopper to work. Deck had one iron chair. I guess if there are two of you, one could be on the deck and the other watch TV (oh, TV did not work). Now you say with all these issues why didn’t you call anyone. We tried 4 times. No voice mail. Went down to office and no one was there. When we checked out on Monday around 9:30 the lady in the office was having an in-depth conversation with someone about who knows what ignoring me. Finally, some other person walked up and I said I wanted to check out and handed her my key and left.I have yet to receive a receipt or explanation of charges. We will not be back and would never recommend a non-ADA establishment to anyone.
MoreWe arrived here for an overnight stay and were checked in and welcomed by the hotel receptionist. We stayed in the English room & our friends in the Italian room. Both were beautifully presented with lovely linen, great showers and comfortable beds. The main house of the hotel is just lovely it’s a bit quirky, which adds to its southern charm. There was a wedding taking place when we were there and I was a bit concerned about potential noise but as there is a strict curfew it wasn’t an issue as all finished and quiet by 10.15pm. The pool area was great & had separate adult & children’s pools. We didn’t eat in the restaurant as didn’t have trousers other than jeans (the dress code is country casual, but no jeans). The included breakfast was excellent with an omelette station as well as the standard continental offerings. The staff we met were all great. Everywhere was perfectly clean. The English room didn’t have a fridge or a coffee maker, but not a deal breaker! We met the owner the night we were there and were very interested in hearing about the history of the house and about her family (the Palmolive dynasty). We would definately stay here again as really appeals to my sense of uniqueness.
MoreIt is a beautiful setting on the St. John's river. However, the experience was nothing like their website description. My significant other has allergies, and when we entered our room, she was immediately overwhelmed with the smell of mold and mildew. Also, the furnishings were nothing like the picture on the web. The picture showed a beautiful canopy bed, but what we found was garage sale furnishings at best. Although the room did appear to be clean, we could not stay because of the odor of mildew. I must admit, the office staff was very responsive and when I explained the mildew issue and said we could not stay, they immediately reversed the charges on my credit card. Overall, the staff was great, the setting on the river was spectacular, and it is like stepping back into 1920s Florida. But if you are handicapped or have allergies to mold and mildew, this might not be the perfect place for you.
