tripadvisorHard to find much wrong about anything that is natural or free. I really enjoyed an hour walk through the arboretum (about 1.75 miles to cover most of it). Most trees/plants are labeled. It is informative. It is clean. It is well taken care of. You can download a map/guide to better understand your surroundings. All the map/guide holders onsite were empty so I’m glad I had already downloaded one.I have lived in this part of Washington on and off for three decades and had never visited…The only two things that made this visit a bit of a less enjoyable experience were the waterlogged bibles left out on benches, pretending to be nice gifts in their now torn up fancy wrapping paper and the constant noise from the nearby highway. I don’t come to places like these to be preached to. I prefer peace and quiet. The arboretum was just starting to bloom, new fresh leaves were coming out, so it was beautiful. I especially loved the creek running through a large part of the arboretum – too bad you can barely hear its soothing sound due to the traffic cacophony. Despite all of this, it was a great way to start my trip to Seattle, stretching my legs and my spirit first.
MoreBeautiful location especially in the fall. Lots of colors.Lots of great backdrops trees, water and colorful foliage.
MoreWe were visiting Spokane late October in order to extend the autumn colours that are so short where we live, and we thought an arboretum would be the place to be. Sadly, our timing was off here, and while we saw a teeny tiny bit of colour, there was much more colour in Manito. There are some lovely corners in the park, but what we found the most off-putting was the horrible noise from the interstate - it almost ruined our visit. But if you can somehow mentally turn off the racket from the road, you should be able to have a great visit.
MoreWith the crispness in the air, the changing of the leaves, it's time to visit before the snow comes.
MoreSo many wonderful memories of the variety of flora and trees. The critters (marmots I think) are harmless and the hike up to the end of the arboretum is worth the time. A creek runs thru the arboretum and a picnic is a must. Easy to find and rarely used at times.
