I'm very used to staying at SpringHill Suites around the US. This one has, for the most part, wonderful staff, and decent accomodations. There are, however, a few flaws which lowered my rating. The biggest issue, in my mind, is value for money spent. It's very expensive for the SpringHill cookie cutter experience here. And there are flaws, mostly with housekeeping. My front desk encounters were fairly good, until my next to last day when I reported that my air conditioning was suddenly not performing. I tried to fix the analog dials to make it cool again, but to no avail. And there were no obvious written instructions to help me detrermine what was wrong. So I asked the Front Desk person on duty to request a Maintenance person to assist. My request made the list (I learned much later) but it took 6 hours at least (and 3 separate visits back to the Front Desk) to get it done. And it was an easy fix -- only took 60 seconds! But I waited in my room for over 5 hours (yes, I had other things to do for work to fill the time). Housekeeping only comes every other day, which is fine. But they don't exactly do the most thorough job of cleaning the bath area. I won't show the evidence! Also, they don't exactly do a great job of removing trash left in the hallway at the end of the day. Most times it stays there until after midnight, and on one occasion, the trash stayed out all night long! Not acceptable. So, bottom line, if you're going to charge hundreds during high season, the hotel should be a nearly perfect experience. This wasn't. Thus my middling review and overall assessment, which does not include the not-the-greatest-location in Midtown. Although bus service is quite good all over Anchorage.

Pro: hotel room very spacious. Has hotel room that accommodates 5 people comfortably. Location convenient. Walmart and some restaurants within short driving distance. Close to airport. Has washer and dryer. Free parking. Standard breakfast. Con: very dirty room. Stained carpet, curtain, bed frame. Only one washer and one dryer for entire establishment so people are fighting doing laundry. Breakfast ends quite early at 9 AM.

We stayed here for one night pre-flight. Our room was spacious and clean. The people working the front desk at our arrival and departure were friendly. The downside was the tv in our room. It would randomly turn on as if it was rebooting and then we would have to turn it off. This happened all night long over and over again. We did report it to the front desk when we were leaving at 4am to go to the airport. The bath towels were extremely small, definitely larger than a hand towel, but no where close to the size of a normal bath towel. Just because of the tv experience we would probably stay somewhere else next time. There is a Outback Steakhouse literally right across the street and if you want to walk one block further there is a Buffalo Wild Wings, and a few blocks more there is a Walmart, but other than that it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. It's just a few minutes drive to the airport.

Went to the pool, and there was a million kids in there being absolutely crazy making it unenjoyable. A child walked into the pool area completely nude, and stood over the pool and peed. When we told the front desk they did nothing. Me and all my friends are also covered in bed bug bites, all over our bodies.
