The Facility Maintenance Section is a part of the Maintenance & Operations Department of the government of the city of Anchorage, Alaska. It works to preserve, maintain and improve municipal facilities and vehicles. The section provides services for the maintenance of more than 160 municipal buildings and over 210 parks. The Facility Maintenance Section s responsibilities include various building maintenance services, such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, welding, painting, graffiti removal and roofing. It also responds to the daily operational needs of the buildings, as well as performs preventive maintenance on major building systems. In addition, it performs major repairs and facility upgrade works through service contracts with outside firms.
