tripadvisorThe Constantine Theater is a throwback to vaudeville and it's glory days. It was originally built in the 1880's and still survives today. When C.C. Constantine bought the theater in 1919, he wanted to bring opera to the wild west oil field town of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He brought six opera shows from the New York Metropolitan Opera during 1919-1920. As a promoter, and when times change...true promoters turn to what works and makes money. So, he started bringing in vaudeville acts, motion pictures, live theater, an onstage circus, The Constantine closed in 1970, but a local group from Pawhuska saved and rehabbed the grand old Constantine in 1987. Live theater, regional and national musical acts, and yes...ballet has been the acts that are now calling the Constantine home. The renovated Constantine is beautiful, and a great place to witness live entertainment. I have seen several musical acts play at the Constantine, and have found there isn't a bad seat in the 589 seat auditorium. When in Pawhuska...treat yourself to a show in a true historical theater!
