We wanted to get a bike ride in after walking around at a flea market and stumbled upon this. We pulled in and found a smallish but adequate parking lot. There seemed to be several options of destinations and we chose the river for the distance, and well, the river. Turned out only about the first mile or so was actually a bike path; then we were directed onto the street with a bike lane and then, at the end, we had no bike lane. (To be fair, maybe we turned too soon; we couldn't seem to find any more signs to direct us and could see that the river wasn't far, so we found our own way.) Don't get me wrong, we got along fine, but we're transporting our bikes to trails so that we don't have to ride on the street. (We're older; we have new e-bikes we want to get used to; we're visitors and don't know the streets; we need to build up our stamina as it's been a while since we've done any riding. We want, search for, and are willing to drive to TRAILS.) Remember, the 3.5 mile trail to the river is really 7 miles if you need to return to your car. Once we had returned to the parking lot, we decided to ride the other direction to see if we had just chosen the wrong way. It was a trail for a bit longer, but then it, too, appeared to split into three options, two of which most likely (from what we could see) put riders onto the street. I would not choose this trail again. While it started out to seemingly make good use of land along a canal, that quiet and safety didn't last long.
