Ethereal Tattoo Gallery is an artist-owned tattoo studio in downtown Durham, NC, specializing in custom black and grey realism, fine line, and illustrative tattoos. Every design is drawn for the individual client and treated as a curated piece of art, built to heal cleanly and age well. Portrait tattoos are at the heart of what we do. Brian Parrillo is known for lifelike black and grey portraits that capture expression, lighting, and fine detail, including pet portraits, memorial portraits, and family portraits. Pet portrait tattoos are his specialty, and collectors travel to Durham from Tennessee, Virginia, Utah, South Carolina, Vermont, and beyond to work with him. We are also a welcoming choice for first tattoos. Many of our clients get their very first piece with us, and our small team takes the time to help you feel confident about your design and placement from consultation to healing. Our studio offers a calm, appointment-based experience in a historic 1939 bottling plant building in the Foster and West Geer Streets Historic District, a luxury-industrial setting for custom tattoos and fine art.
