tripadvisorThe memorial to fallen firefighters is located in Pioneer Square. Thoughtfully constructed and depicts a picture of firefighters in action.
MoreThe bronze sculpture of the Fallen Firefighters Memorial is located in Occidental Park. It was created after four firefighters died in the line of duty on January 5, 1995 fighting a fire in a warehouse in Seattle's Chinatown International District. The Memorial pays tribute to all Seattle firefighters who have died in the line of duty since the department began in 1889. The figures of the sculpture were intentionally designed with masked faces so they represent any of the thousands of firefighters of the Seattle Fire Department. Slabs of granite surround the sculpture symbolising a collapsed building. This is a truly moving memorial and worth visiting.
MoreNice to view of you are in the area. A beautiful memorial to fallen firefighters...Good to see if you are in the area.
MoreMy wife and I were in the area, so we decided to drop by and see this memorial. I thought it was rather tasteful, and it had the names of every SFD member who had fallen since the late 1800s. It's both a beautiful testament to their sacrifice, and to their legacy and history.
MoreWalking Across Occidental Park towards the intersection of Occidental Avenue and Main Street, we came across the Memorial to Fallen Firefighters. A bronze sculpture of a group of firemen fighting a fire surrounded by slabs of granite, which are intended to depict a collapsed building. This memorial was made by artist Hai Ying Wu, who was inspired by the death of four firefighters who died fighting a large fire in Seattle's Chinatown. It is also a Memorial to all fire fighters who died in the line of duty since 1889. Their names are etched on to the surrounding slabs of granite, along with messages from supporting organizations. TIP. Look closely you will not recognize a face, as they are all covered with Masks. (Done intentionally by the artist)
