tripadvisorFishing pier has been destroyed- presumably by Hurricane Ian. This is a real shame as views are good! Parking is available and park was very quiet in June 2024
MoreThe park is open and we have been walking through it all winter. There is a picnic area and playground with views of the Caloosahatchee; a community center building; and a very long fishing pier that stretches out into the Caloosahatchee. The park is always kept very neat and clean by city workers. The only time there is a problem is the occasional Monday morning when you find beer bottles and trash on the fishing pier. We really like walking through here with all of the blooming plants and the amazing views of Downtown Fort Myers from the fishing pier. There are regular walkers who are in the park in the morning so you are usually not isolated. On Sunday mornings there is a religious service in the community center. The people are friendly but aren't wearing masks, so we just keep our distance. This is a nice place to walk to, but the sidewalk on Palm Beach Boulevard/First Street is only kept clean as far as the Oasis Condos (from the direction of Downtown). If you want to walk further to the east from the park on a main raod, it's kind of rough.
MoreMy husband and I walked to this very pretty park from our condo. There is a shelter with a picnic table, benches, children's play equipment, and walking paths. You can walk from here to the fishing pier too, just don't expect to swim in the area because of the possibility of alligators. The fishing pier goes quite far into the Caloosahatchee River and you have great views. The area is kept clean and there were maintenance people over at the main building, which is also used as Precinct 8 for voting.
