tripadvisorAn amazing experience! The lunch was served hot. All the food is cooked fresh - homemade, in the kitchen at Maxim's near the dock. The service was fabulous! In fact, Christy talked to the guests on the boat as we went down the Rock River - it made for a fun and informative boat excursion! Great food, great service, beautiful boat!
MoreWe were heading home from Galena and decided to stop here. It was a great way for us to spend 2 hours! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We saw a bald eagle and pelicans along with other sights. We had the luncheon cruise. We chose chicken fontina. It was delicious! It was served with a salad, a twice baked potato, mixed vegetables, and rice with spinach, and a dessert. The best part was the price - we paid the same for this meal as we did for just a salad in Galena.
MoreFriends surprised me with a cruise for my birthday! This was amazing. So peaceful. The crew were helpful since I have some mobile disability. Friendly and knowledgeable about wildlife on the river. Certainly my first of many cruises with the Pride of Oregon.
MoreThe paddle boat is kept in good shape. There is a good wooden walkway to get to it. I strongly recommend against ordering their food. It is served look slop and cooked in some sort of too spicey grease. The brownie was hard like a rock and topped with some tasteless piece of something that was supposed to be whipped cream. The salad at the beginning of the mean was a few greens thoroughly covered in a salad dressing DONT ORDER THEIR FOOD!!The boat itself was a good ride....just dont eat on board!
MoreI spent a very enjoyable outing aboard the Pride of Oregon on September 17th. I made a last-minute reservation, including lunch, cod fillet. While I did not make the time cutoff for ordering lunch, the staff was able to accommodate me. Next time, I will make a reservation at least one day in advance. If you are lucky, you will witness one of most incredible bird encounters I have seen. Towards the end of the cruise, an osprey stuck a bald eagle in flight above the sternwheeler. The bald eagle may have been encroaching in the osprey’s best fishing area and received a stern warning about poaching. The bald eagle flew away without contesting the airspace. Regrettably, I did not have my camera ready and missed what would have been the nature shot of the year. I wished I lived closer so that I could view the fall foliage along the river in October.
