tripadvisorMy son has been fascinated by the Asian Small Clawed Otter for years and has watched he team at Animal Edventures on YouTube. We had the opportunity to go to the park for a visit and it was so much more then we had expected. The owners and staff care so much for these animals in their care. We did the Family VIP tour and it was worth EVERY penny of it. Thank you for the experience!
MoreI booked general admission for my boyfriend and I, and added on the kangaroo holding, for his birthday. All the staff were very friendly and the Halloween decorations were adorable. We had a wonderful time and didn’t stop smiling. Our tour guide Luke was awesome and very knowledgeable telling us the story of multiple different animals on property. We had plenty of time with each animal to take pictures, pet/interact with them, and learn fun facts. Im not sure I’d recommend spending the $20 on the kangaroo holding addition as it was for about a minute each and the joey was a bit restless, but still adorable. Of course keeping in mind the safety and comfortability of the animals but perhaps petting the kangaroos, and spending about 20 minutes with them, is more than enough interaction without the addition Joey holding. It is definitely accessible for people of all abilities and ages. The paths were newly paved and kept up with. There were two guests in our group with mobility scooters/wheelchairs and they were able to go into all of the areas including the kangaroo area. Although, I’m not positive about the otter accessibility since I did not participate.Overall we had a lovely time with plenty of fans all over and shaded areas at every stop. Would definitely go back!
MoreThe walk through safari was wonderful. The park was clean and all animals looked as if they are very well cared for. The tour guides provided a well planned tour , sharing information about the animals as we went and provided opportunities to pet and feed animals when appropriate. They were all kind and patient.
MoreExtremely disappointing experience. Unfortunately, this really felt like a case of getting what you pay for.General admission was $25 per person, and most of the experience consisted of seeing the animals from a distance while being moved along with a fairly large group. The visit itself was okay at best, but the biggest disappointment was absolutely the additional animal encounter. We paid an extra $20 per person for what was advertised as a “one-hour otter encounter.” Based on that description, we expected an actual interactive experience with the otters. Instead, we were placed with the rest of the group, and a staff member walked around holding an otter while each person briefly got the opportunity to pet its belly as she continued moving from person to person. The entire “one-hour” encounter lasted approximately 10 minutes for the whole group. If you want additional interaction, such as holding the otter or taking a photo without a staff member holding it, you are told that those experiences are only available through the VIP package—which costs around $200.I understand that animal encounters need to be structured around the animals’ safety and comfort, and I would never expect otherwise. My issue is with how this experience was advertised compared with what was actually provided. Calling this a “one-hour otter encounter” created a very different expectation from a roughly 10-minute group interaction where you briefly pet an otter being carried past you.If there is one thing I would recommend based on our experience, it is do not spend the extra money on the additional encounters. The general admission experience was underwhelming, but the otter encounter was by far the most disappointing part because we specifically paid extra for something that did not remotely match what we believed we were purchasing.Overall, I left feeling extremely disappointed and honestly somewhat misled by the way the encounter was presented. For the experience we actually received, I absolutely would not pay for it again.
MoreExtremely disappointing and absolutely not worth the money. This was very much a “you get what you pay for” experience.General admission is $25 per person, which mostly gets you the opportunity to see animals from a distance while being rushed along with a rather large group. The overall experience was mediocre at best, but the real issue was the additional “encounters” they charge extra for.We paid an additional $20 per person for what was advertised as a “one-hour otter encounter.” Calling it a one-hour encounter is incredibly misleading based on what we actually received. You are placed with the rest of the group while a staff member carries an otter around. When she reaches you, you briefly pet the otter’s belly while she continues holding it, and then she moves on to the next person. That’s essentially the encounter. Our supposed one-hour experience lasted maybe 10 minutes total for the entire group.Want to actually hold the otter? Take a picture with it without someone else holding it? Have anything resembling the interactive experience you probably imagined when you paid extra for an “otter encounter”? Apparently, that requires the VIP package—which costs around $200.To be clear, I completely understand that the animals’ safety and well-being should come first and that interactions need to have appropriate limits. That is not the problem. The problem is charging people for a “one-hour otter encounter” when the actual experience is a few minutes of briefly petting an otter as a staff member carries it around the group. If that is what the experience includes, then advertise it accurately and allow customers to decide whether it is worth paying extra for.If you take anything from this review: do not waste your money on the additional encounters. Had I known beforehand what the “one-hour otter encounter” actually consisted of, I would never have paid for it.The general experience was underwhelming. The paid encounter was worse. We left feeling disappointed, misled, and genuinely confused about how what we received could reasonably be advertised as a one-hour encounter.Save your money.
