tripadvisorLincoln Park is one of the premier residential neighborhoods in Chicago and one of the most expensive addresses in the country. It has many young college grads and young professionals starting a family living here. You can find many excellent restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood, and it offers plenty of shopping with boutiques and bookstores and many bars and clubs are available. This is also the home of Lincoln Park, which is one of the best urban parks in the country as it stretches along the lakeshore.
MoreWe walked from the Lincoln Park Conservatory through the Lincoln Park neighborhood to Old Town. Beautiful area well worth walking through.
MoreLincoln Park Neighborhood is a well-developed, old neighborhood of Chicago, with beautiful architecture and majestic houses, historic buildings, modern high-rises, theaters, shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. De Paul University, Lincoln Park, Chicago History Museum, many churches and monuments are located in the area of Lincoln Park Neighborhood. We drove around the center part (Diversey Pkwy), which was easy to navigate and to park. Many historic buildings in the area have their facades kept in their original looks, whereas indoors they have been restored and are very modern, like The Landmark Century Theater, for instance. Originally the community of Polish and German immigrants (since mid 1800s), Lincoln Park is now an affluent, one of the highest-status neighborhoods, with a total population of about 70000 people. Nowadays, it is the neighborhood of the high-income professionals, college graduates, and young families. Depending on the traffic, Lincoln Park Neighborhood is about 15 min drive on US-41 N (Lake Shore Drive) from Magnificent Mile. We enjoyed our visit to Lincoln Park Neighborhood very much!
MoreIt's easy to get confused if you live on Chicago's Near North Side, or the Gold Coast, as my wife and I do. From our condominium, we look upon Lincoln Park, one of Chicago's most wealthiest and most expensive communities, and Lincoln Park, the largest public park in Chicago and the second most visited park in the United States. Confused? I reviewed Lincoln Park, the park, in September. This review is all about Lincoln Park, the neighborhood. Bordered by Diversey Parkway to the north, the Chicago River to the west, North Avenue to the south and Lake Michigan to the east, it encompasses historic Old Town, Park West and the Clybourn Corridor retail district and features upscale national retailers, boutiques, book stores, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. The average single family home is priced at $1 million. The area between Armitage, Willow, Burling and Orchard is the most expensive block in Chicago. Today, the area is made up of young professionals, recent college graduates and young families. Except, of course, for a few 80-year-old retirees like us. There is a lot to do and lot to see and plenty of places to enjoy a good meal. Popular destinations are Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago History Museum, Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, Lincoln Park Conservatory, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, North Pond Nature Sanctuary and St. Michael's Church. Dine at three-Michelin star Alinea, North Pond, RJ Grunt's, Vinci, The Wiener's Circle, Mon Ami Gabi, Twin Anchors, Boka and Lou Malnati's Pizza.
