Our experience was horrible and if I could give a negative rating I would. We were traveling late so when our plane landed I called the hotel to ensure that our rooms would be held since we had a 2 hour drive and would be arriving after 1am. I called at 10pm and the person I spoke with on the phone ensured that we were good to go. When we arrived the person at the desk found our reservation but had said they there were no more rooms and that our room was given to someone else and indicated that this should not have happened. He gave us the general managers card and told us to call her because we should be given a refund because this should not have happened. This was a HUGE problem because it took us an hour to find another hotel and ended up getting to bad at 3am. I have never had this happen at any other hotel when we have arrived late. We will not be using this hotel again! The front desk person we spoke with when we arrived was kind and empathetic but the issue was not resolved and the general manager was not available to speak with on Saturday. So we will have to call back.

First impressions mean a lot. Check-in was a breeze. However, looking around the lobby, it looked dated and dirty. This should have been a clue of what to expect. Pulling the car around closer to the room, I see a sedan with its tires flatten, ALL the windows broken out parked right by the rear door. Almost kept driving to look elsewhere. However, we decided to check the room first. The room was cleaner than expected. The bed and linen appeared to be fresh and clean. The bed was actually quite comfortable. The furniture, room and TV were very dated. The walls were in need of some repair and refresh. There was a stale smell but not horrible. Other guests had similar problems, especially with people having large parties and even an unfortunate and loud domestic dispute. The hotel is going through renovations, which are much needed. Ran across some interesting guests staying there. However, there was a mall close by and a wide variety of food choices close by. We will probably try another hotel if we return to Delaware in the future.

Place was filthy, rooms were dirty we rented 3 rooms all were dirty. Even the outside property had litter all over the place. The outdoor pool had hair extensions at the bottom of the pool and hair floating all around in clumps.

We recently stayed at Sonesta Select Newark Christiana Mall and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.From the moment we checked in, our room did not have hot water. We immediately notified the front desk, and maintenance attempted to “reset the water,” but the issue was never resolved. We were never proactively offered another room so we could shower or use basic amenities.We went to bed hoping the issue would be fixed by morning. It wasn’t. After continued complaints and still no hot water, we ultimately had to leave and book another hotel.When we spoke with the General Manager, Amy Klesaris, we were told we would only receive a half refund. Considering we were unable to use a fundamental amenity like hot water, that is unacceptable. The interaction itself was equally disappointing — there was no introduction, no apology, and no effort to de-escalate or show concern for our experience. We were repeatedly told we would not receive a full refund and were eventually told to leave.We have stayed at this property before and have previously overlooked issues because we understand that things can happen. However, the lack of professionalism and customer care in this situation was extremely concerning.Hot water is not a luxury — it’s a basic expectation. We hope management reconsiders how situations like this are handled in the future.

Do not stay here during renovations! It is noisy, dirty, the restaurant is closed, the pool is left open without security. The staff at the hotel is doing the best it can but this place should be closed until renovations are completed. Very disappointed!
