Lakehurst Hangar No. 1 is located in the Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst in Ocean County. It was constructed in the year 1921. Since 1968, this old aircraft hangar has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark. This 4.8-acres (1.9 hectares) hangar was originally built to hold helium airships. Currently this hangar houses an aircraft which is used for training the flight deck crew of an aircraft carrier. This facility also houses the interesting Navy Lakehurst Historical Society. Here you will find a wide range of exhibits like weapons, uniforms and model warplanes.
