NInepipe is a phenomenal place to view birds, but a very frustrating place to photograph birds. It is not really designed for visitors and most of the places you go, you have to wade out into the weeds to get close enough to the water to do any photography. The one exception is from the dam which allows you to get much closer. Most of the folks on the dam are fishing, but the birds are much closer. We were there in August, but the prime seasons for viewing here are during the spring and fall migrations.Even though this isn't the main time for viewing, we saw Trumpeter Swans, Osprey, Western Grebes, Phalaropes, Canada Geese, Plover, Gulls, Swallows and Magpies. We also saw a number of deer. While the deer were skiddish, they were close enough to photograph. My favorite viewing was the Western Grebe with a very demanding chick that followed Mom everywhere except underwater. For Birdwatching, I highly recommend. For Bird Photography, this place will frustrate you.
