Founded in 1944, Electro Scientific Industries supplies production laser systems and other high-technology manufacturing equipment for microengineering applications. The company designs and develops a broad range of products and systems, including laser systems for memory repair; laser-drilling systems required for advance semiconductor packaging; and test, termination and inspection systems for passive components. The company first produced high-precision resistance measurement instruments and reference standards. Electro Scientific developed laser-based systems for hybrid circuit resistor trimming in 1970.
