tripadvisorJames Adams is a top notch guide for adventure trips around the world. I booked my trip to Tanzania through his company, Natural Selections Tours for an amazing safari. He left no stone unturned and made sure that were always safe and knew exactly when to be out on the road to view wildlife. He also coordinated with our local guides, Matangos Expeditions, giving us an opportunity to see lions, cheetahs and leopard, along with many elephants, giraffes, zebra, wildebeast, hippos and countless other spectacular species. I highly recommend booking your next adventure with Natural Selections Tours.
MoreThank you James for organizing our spectacular birding trip in Honduras. Everything was seamless and Olbin truly is a treasure. His expertise was impressive - we saw roughly 220 species in 9 days - but also his ability to communicate. He made sure we all saw the birds he found for us and was full of interesting information about them. He was patient, thoughtful, always good-natured and very charming. He took good care of us from beginning to end. The itinerary and accommodations were great. Many thanks
MoreI am back from the most amazing tour with Natural Selections tour guide, Olbin Bejarano, to Honduras. We explored the Mayan ruins and sculptures at Copan and travelled to other areas of that country to see hundreds of avian species. My number one desired bird was the Golden-cheeked Warbler (which breeds only in Texas) on its wintering grounds. I saw several and was fortunate to shoot some nice photos. Olbin is truly an expert on avian species and other wildlife. My hundreds of photos will always bring memories of a most successful trip with Natural Selections.
MoreI was a participant on Natural Selections Tours’ 10-day Birding Cuba tour, December 2023, and what a fantastic, memorable experience! The itinerary was perfectly planned for a fun, relaxed adventure with lots of birding, a few cultural activities, and some beach time. The main guide, Wesley Homoya, was personable, patient, easy-going, and made sure everyone got satisfying looks at targeted birds. I appreciated the personal attention and quick responses to pre-trip questions and concerns - mostly about required documentation. I enjoyed staying at the small, comfortable local lodgings with family-style meals; and I loved that our Cuban bird guide, Jose, was so enthusiastic, energetic, and knowledgeable about birds, landscapes, history, and more! I also liked that Natural Selections’ program fees help support Caribbean Conservation Trust’s bird conservation efforts in Cuba.I highly recommend this Cuba tour and look forward to birding on another Natural Selections Tour!
MoreHusband and I (an active senior couple) had a great time on the Uganda trip put together by Natural Selections. We’re semi-serious birders and loved the idea of seeing gorillas, so the focus of this Uganda trip caught our eye. Had always wanted to go to Africa. We hemmed and hawed about whether to go, (COVID, Ebola, expensive long flights) from the US) but finally bit the bullet and committed. Then waited to hear whether enough others would sign up to make the trip a go. About another month or so after we registered we heard from James that no one else had signed on. But he proposed that if his Uganda partner would offer a good price, that we two take a private tour with just him (Johnnie Uganda) as guide and driver. James promised that Johnnie was the best bird guide in Uganda. We were satisfied with the price proposed for the two of us by Johnnie. So we were set to go alone though open to having late registering companions. And that’s what then transpired. We were joined by another couple and it all worked well. We loved every second of the trip. The lodging was always great, beautiful locations with nice staff and good food. Guide Johnnie was indeed quite excellent, spotting birds with the naked eye from a distance at the same time he skillfully navigated some crazy roads. We toted up 222 species of birds on the trip. Johnnie’s Toyota Landrover accommodated the 5 of us comfortably - with a pop up roof for best viewing. Note that there is a lot of road travel on this itinerary. Usually long drives between the various locations. But there was so much to see along the way that we didn’t mind and we’re happy to have visited all locations. Uganda is beautiful - green rolling hills planted with bananas, coffee, tea…. Small mud brick houses dotting that landscape. The gorilla trekking experience both days for us was excellent. It’s very well organized by the Bwindi Park staff. With the help of trackers, we found our assigned family of gorillas within less than an hour each day. We got great photos both days and really enjoyed watching the gorillas’ behavior for our allotted hour.Loved gliding through the lovely Mabamba Swamp in dugout canoe looking for and spotting the iconic shoebill bird. And the boat ride round Kazinga Channel was full of beautiful sightings of fish eagles, kingfishers, hippos, crocodiles, and more. And I haven’t even mentioned all the sightings of large mammals! We were especially glad that this low season time of year was selected for this trip. The weather was temperate and great, with only a few brief showers (the season of “short rains.” ). Most lodging was less than half full and we didn’t experience any real “animal jams.”
