tripadvisorNever having been a cruise. Wasn't sure what to expect. My daughter and I. She was youngest passenger on board. The staff made us very comfortable, food was excellent. The early buffets, and dinners were all great. Full orders, half orders, very accommodating. Our suite was very nice. Plenty of room. We enjoyed ourselves so much so, we booked our next cruise while on board. Looking forward to next year. Atmosphere was fun, and really nice people. Open sitting was so nice. We partially chose this cruise lines. Because of the size, and number of guests.
MoreThis was our first cruise, and what an absolute perfect adventure! From planning our cruise through docking at the end, American Cruise Lines provided the perfect experience! We really enjoyed being on a ship with only 180 people - no crowds to deal with and plenty of time to enjoy making new friends. The trip lasted for 11 days, and we had several excursions off the ship along the way. The scenery was amazing, the excursions were well planned and very worthwhile, the food was exceptional, and the entire staff contributed to a great experience with their friendliness and skillful help. We enjoyed this cruise so much we booked another one on the Mississippi River.
MoreFood was disgusting…except for breakfast, and even then watch out. For example, Eggs Florentine when they had NO spinach… lol. Sad but true.Napkins very stained.Second eating area and snack area was just ok. This is where beer and wine was kept…self serve.Cigar smoke came into my room from balcony below…ugh.Room floor damp.Appetizers were served and rationed around plexiglass, and were terrible…Wait time for meals was very slow…“Library”…had few books.Lounge area for presentations was very crowded.Ship under staffed. The ship was loud, back tracked and wasted time. No one pointed out landmarks.Solo passenger needed medical care. No one from ship went with her. She had trouble getting back because office did not answer. For the price…awful.
MoreOlivia - great job. Food services needs improvement. Kitchen very slow. Waited hour & half for some meals. Servers average. Room very clean.
MoreThe 2+ hour cruise was a gift birthday from my wife. We sailed out of Ilwaco, WA, just across the river from Astoria as that met our interests! Crossed the Columbia River bar and cruised quite near the lighthouse at Cape Disappointment. Beautiful yacht; strong and capable. Aaron was a very knowledgeable guide; interesting and clearly taken with the region and history. We learned a lot. Captain Tim was completely professional and we felt very comfortable with him at the helm. The bar can be sketchy and he obviously knew it well. Sailing from Ilwaco, we did not cruise under the big bridge. I think you would sail from Astoria for that experience. Our conditions were moderate, with a few minutes of ocean swells but mostly protected water. If you're prone to sea-sickness, take your pills. Below deck is very cozy and comfortable should the weather get wet, with great visibility.
