My specialty is keeping your locks in working order to provide the security - and peace of mind - for your home or business. Mechanical locks are like a marriage. They are a series of relationships of parts that must work together to function as a single unit to create the security when they are locked. Many factors can interfere with this "relationship". Weather - hot & cold. Rain, dust, neglect on your part - sorry. Locks need TLC periodically, to keep performing. That small lock cylinder that your key goes into has a minimum of 16 moving parts. We measure these parts in thousandths of an inch. From the back of the key cylinder - depending on the brand - your lock will add another 15 to 25 more moving parts . So besides all the natural hazards that can affect your lock over time - let's say you get a duplicate of your key at a store that does key cutting as a sideline. It's cut too deep or too shallow - or worse - the spacing is off sideways. Remember those thousandths of an inch dimensions in that cylinder? You wiggle & giggle your key now - and you get used to it. Time & weather & no TLC and you think you need a new lock. NO - you need a locksmith.
