Gaviota Wind Caves is a peculiar sandstone formation naturally sculpted by the winds from the Pacific Ocean that have swept the landscape for centuries. A scenic 2.5 mile (4.02 kilometers) loop trail within the Gaviota State Park leads up to the caves through blankets of wildflowers and rugged outcroppings. An opening at the end of the trail leads hikers inside the cave formation, where they can relax or explore the pristine surroundings. A lookout carved naturally within the rock allows visitors to enjoy scenic vistas of the mountainside and the majestic ocean.
