We took a taxi from Jfk airport to Manhattan. We were told by the airport personnel it would cost about $65us. We asked the driver how much it would cost, he didn't answer. First mistake. He also insisted we put our luggage in the trunk, second mistake. When we got to our destination he said the price was $400us. When we refused to pay he said, $150 cash. We told him we would give him $70 cash or $150 on our credit card. He said no. He had our luggage so we had to negotiate with him. In the end we paid $150 (we hope since we didn't really show us the machine) on our credit card. So if we were to do this again we would make sure we take a yellow taxi and get the cost before we get in and also keep our luggage with us. The other piece to know is it was midnight and we had been travelling all day. So this driver took advantage of that.
