tripadvisorThis is one of the most beautiful places in Madison and a great way to escape from the bustle of the city. It was a favorite place of mine when I was a grad student here and recently rode my bike along the Lakeshore Path to take an autumn walk here. There are places to lock your bikes, as bikes are not allowed in the preserve itself, and it's a short walk to the point and back (maybe 15-30 minutes, depending on speed - but it's worth taking your time). There are several interlocking trails through dense, vibrant woods that are bordered on both sides by the lake. The point itself now has a nice stone viewing circle and a great view of the lake, Capitol and University skyline and lakeshore.
MoreA nice hike out to the point on a warm day is a must if you are looking for a healthy activity. There are a few different paths through to forest with nice stops along the way to view the lake or small beach areas. At the point there is a big fire circle and terraced stone that goes down to the water. Please do not litter or leave your trash behind in this magical place; respect it for its one-of-a-kind beauty. Thank you.
