tripadvisorI was very skeptical my 1st time - BUT…I have been 3 years in a row now LOL! So much just good downhome FUN! For a good cause, money is used for alot of good in the arts.
MoreVery Disappointing. I went to Summers 20 years ago and it was good. It was the 76th season and if they don't improve they will not make 100 seasons. We left early and I was humiliated that I ask friends to go with us. You couldn't hear the actors talk and it started 30 minutes late. I went every year 20 years ago and enjoyed it. Now it is just a bunch of drunks throwing popcorn and not paying any attention to the show. I will never go back.
MoreI’ve been coming to Mummers for 30 years, and while it’s still a uniquely raucous event, the audience talking over the performers has gotten out of hand. Unless you’re sitting in the pit, good luck hearing the performance. Things got a little better during the Oleo, however, because the audience thinned out a bit. I feel for the performers who are giving it their all, despite a large number of witless people who’d rather hear themselves talk.
MoreIt was just an audience of drunks throwing popcorn at each other while a play that started late was happening in the background. We left early.
MoreThis was a truly local experience. The show is divided into two portions, the main, vaudeville type play and the Olio which were a series of short sketches. The show was very funny, but be warned, is not for children and not for easily offended (there is a lot of inuendo). Wear casual clothes because the popcorn throwing is intense. Recommended to arrive early to make it through the token line before the show starts.
