Someone mentioned this location to me a few months ago but today was the first time I was in the area and I thought I would check it out as I had some extra. I printed out a map of this location complete with directions (off Midway Road) and a trail map. Imagine my surprise when I arrived and found it locked up. Nice sign at the entrance and a gorgeous fence and gate immediately behind the sign. Surprise: Gate locked up with a Private Property / No Tresspassing sign on each side. Isn't that special? Directly across from the beautiful gate was another sign stating Additional Parking was straight ahead. Another surprise: This gate was also locked. You can see this in the photos (apparently TA won't allow photos on new locations).As I had driven up from Orlando, I decided to walk around the Additional Parking gate into the park. I found the trails have not been maintained and will soon (by the end of summer) be overgrown and impassable. I gave up as I didn't have my snake boots with me.Shame on the Florida DEP, The Office of Greenways and Trails, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission who split this responsibility and have made a mess of things. My suggestion is to open it up and maintain the trails or close it down. You've been warned.
