Nomiyata Bakery is known to be one of the best bakeries in the city, so I was surprised when I went there for the first time and had trouble finding it from the road because it had no signage. Bizarre. Due to the remnants of COVID-19, there's no inside entry allowed. You choose what you want from a display of pastries in one window and then ask for it at the adjacant order window. I got the Kouign Amann, an excellent Breton pastry. If you go, make sure you wear a mask or they'll make you stand six feet away, even though you're outdoors and the order person is wearing a mask. The pastry was good, but points off for the lack of signage and the unfriendly customer service, the latter of which paled in comparison with other fine bakeries in Portland.
