Mountain Trails includes some of the best artists in both New Mexico and Arizona and beyond. The paintings of Dave Santillanes are a must have. Vic Payne's sculptures are truly amazing.

Fabulous for those with an interest in US Western history/Western art. A beautiful space filled with beautiful things. Our appreciation for the art was instantaneous, and was further exemplified by a discussion with the Executive Director, Michele Couch, who took a lot of time explaining many of the pieces, especially the Vic Payne bronzes that were so spectacular. Calling him the modern day Remington, she described his artistic background, progression and details of several of his pieces we would never have noticed. According to Michele, Payne creates his masterpieces based on historical people and events. Take for example the Into the Wild sculpture, in which you can feel the intensity of the two men battling a rolling river in their canoe, who I assumed to be Lewis and Clark, only to find out the figures are renditions Kit Carson and John Freeman. She said he is continually reading about Western history and trying to keep it alive through his work. Commendable and magnificent!

This gallery is well situated in the heart Santa Fe, and always has great art in paintings and sculptures. Also during some times the artists are there working on a new piece and very willing to talk with the patrons.

Hours could be spent in this gallery viewing the works of such notables as Betty Carr, Upton Greyshoes & Vic Payne. It would be impossible to list by name, all of the artists & sculptors represented in this marvelous gallery. Mountain Trails is dedicated to finding the best art from the best artists then showcasing it in the best way possible to enhance the experience of each person walking through their door.Stopping in is a must when visiting Santa Fe!
