Rather than pay $30 (and more with tax and tip) for a single lobster roll at some restaurant, I decided to make my own. I got a half-pound of fresh lobster meat, which was enough for three overstuffed rolls and maybe five skimpy ones. Also got some fresh Ecuadorian shrimp for a few shrimp cocktails. They had some nice-looking fresh sea bass and red snapper, steamers, Bangs Island mussels (which are very popular around Maine), and a variety of oysters. I like their wine selection too.

We were very disappointed by the live lobsters purchased here. Pound lobsters, nope... Yes, we know how to cook them. Should have just gone to a good seafood restaurant and paid just as much.

We got a few items for appetizers -- the Wild Alaska smoked salmon dip, the smoked scallops, and fresh Ecuadorian shrimp. Everything was good, although the smoked scallops were a little too smoky for everyone's tastes.

It's hard to shop for seafood at the local supermarket after shopping here. They have a fantastic variety of fresh fish and all kinds of gourmet items. Also fresh fruit and produce, prepared meals to go, kitchen-related items, wines, and so on. It's a nice modern offshoot of their old-school market in Olde Port. The prices are reasonable for the quality and selection.
