tripadvisorThe owner of this company is something else. She is entitled like I’ve never seen. I wanna be around nature loving people who have joy and respect for humanity and the Earth.
MoreI did the 2-day Beginner Mountaineering course in Lassen National Park and had a wonderful time! Our guide Dani was super knowledgable and fun. For the second day we had the option to get up early and climb Brokeoff Mountain, which I'm glad we did because it was super helpful getting that real experience. We got hands-on practice and also got to be engaged in the trip planning and decision making. The best part is I now feel confident enough to go out and do something similar on my own without a guide! Going in, I didn't think I needed a women-only class, but it actually made the vibe so much better and I felt more confident because of it. I would definitely check out Alpinistas again for learning more skills, like for their avalanche or ski mountaineering classes.
MoreUseful classroom information to get the gist of gear followed by a fun snowshoeing adventure with others new to the activity, guided by Sarah who was great!
MoreHad an excellent time traveling with this team. I had a lot of questions that I felt like I was being annoying but their customer service rep was really kind and patient. She gave me more than enough information to make me feel prepared enough to go on the backpacking trip. The fitness plan and high altitude guide really helped me to be prepared, more so that the other women on the trip. I met the owner briefly who was also really nice. OMG the food was beyond. I expected pretty basic wilderness meals but our guides really crafted gourmet meals with fresh ingredients. Really impressed. I'd travel with them again.
MoreUnfortunately my experience was less than what I was hoping for. I had booked the one day trip to Half Dome for Fall of 2023. I realized that I hadn't prepared well enough for the adventure and therefore I contacted the business more than 30 days before the scheduled trip. I explained the situation and they were understanding and I requested to just have them hold the money that I had paid for the trip so that I could try and rebook the trip for this year once they had been awarded dates, which they expressed that would be great. Once they released the dates for this year, there were two dates listed and both dates I am working and have been unable to get the dates off. I contacted the business and let them know and requested a refund of the money that I had paid them last year. The response was that they either could carry over the reservation to another trip or give me a refund less 20% of the trip amount. Normally l wouldn't make an issue out of anything, but on their website it states that any trip must be canceled with at least 30 days notice (which I did) and then will have a 6% cancelation fee. Instead the communication that I received made it seem that the business was being generous by giving the refund at all and when I mentioned that their website only listed the 6% cancelation fee, I received no response to this information. Ultimately I requested the refund (for fear that they would just keep my money) and was given the credit back to my card less the 20% fee. I just want businesses to follow what they have listed as their own policies. Just beware when booking.....
