Reviews
tripadvisorThis property felt a little low rent overall. No terrible issues. The price was OK but even at the moderate price, I expected a little more from this Patel family managed MainStay property. The room was a good-sized space. The pillows and bedding were decent. It seemed tidy and the location seemed safe. But the details all seemed basic and down-market. I'm attaching a pic of the kitchen area. The toilet paper was very cheap. The breakfast was the bare minimum to be able to label it a hot buffet breakfast. The bedroom air conditioning kicked on with a very loud bang - loud enough to wake one from sleep (several times in the course of the night). The soundproofing between floors was poor. The hotel tacks on a room safe fee, which is not included in the advertised room rate at the time of booking; it would be more transparent if they just upped their advertised room rate. Again, nothing awful about the stay. But it was a little disappointing for the (modest) rate. I would try a different property if staying in the area another time. Also, keep in mind when booking Choice-brand properties: An individual Choice property is able cancel your confirmed reservation for any reason. Choice corporate policy is not make one whole in such cases - noting that their properties are franchises and so Choice corporate is not responsible. This differs from most other large national hotel brands, which are also franchise systems but which do stand behind their brands.
MoreI would advise people to be very cautious with this hotel-the area and people staying there are fine as are the rooms-HOWEVER-there was a very creepy male employee who followed me to my room and when I checked out he followed me to the back of the hotel. As a SOLO FEMALE traveler the safe did not make me feel safe. Like I said the facility and area was adequate just felt very uneasy.
MoreLocation was good in the heart of newly developed area at east end of Madison near Sun Prairie. Lobby area beautiful and recently renovated. Rooms large and modern w plenty of electric outlets. Our 2-Queen came with sofa sleeper and fully equipped mini-kitchen w 2-burner stove and dishwasher plus all necessary equipment like toaster etc. Nice, new pool and hot tub area though a bit small and small exercise room all off the main lobby. Only downsides were no overhead portico at main entrance due to being built on hill at road front. This was a real PIA in the winter for unloading, esp during a snowstorm. And, small parking lot that filled quickly. Rate seemed good at $124 until you had the pleasure of paying $12 city tax plus the county tax, charge for the safe, etc totaling $21+All these taxes for poorly plowed roads. Not typical for a city in Wisconsin. Not the fault of hotel, just the area. Breakfast was minimal but at least hot options and adequate. Beds comfortable but for queen size they seemed small. Room was L-shaped and hard to watch tv from one of the beds.
MoreMy Wife and I (as well as many others on the team) stayed at the hotel for about 4 weeks due to work. We would definitely stay here again. The staff was great, the room was great, and the front desk staff did anything they could to make our stay more enjoyable. I prefer Mainstay Suits Airport to anyone who wants to experience a luxurious stay at Mainstay which is beyond any other upscale brand. I want to say this because they are fully renovated and I felt like I was staying at home. It was an amazing experience to stay in spacious kitchenette rooms.
MoreThis hotel is run with the cheapest of everything. Cheap towels, toilet paper, breakfast to name a few. Toilet seat was falling off, stains on the sheets and towels, no power to the safe, no choices for breakfast, not even a piece of fruit. No coffee at 7:30 AM. One person trying to run the whole hotel on a Sunday morning including the breakfast. We paid a lot for the room and got little in return. Look for another hotel.
