Duluth Depot is a historic train station that has been converted into a tourist attraction featuring several history museums, along with an art institute, art museum, a playhouse-theater combined and the North Shore Scenic Railroad. Offering a multi-generational experience with something for everyone, the Duluth Depot is the ideal spot for a school or college field trip, fun-filled family weekend getaway or corporate team-building excursion. Built in 1892, the depot was one of the major rail transport hubs in the US, serving seven rail lines for passenger and goods transport. Revamped and restructured, the station was reopened in 1973 to serve as a tourist attraction as the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center.

tripadvisorThis is a fun & interesting museum. Lots of trains to see & several you can go in. Loved the big miniature train that runs in the old depot bldg & the street facade that runs along one side of the depot. Kids & adults will enjoy this if they like trains...and even if they aren't train fans it's cool.
MoreMy uncle and grandpa were train engineers in the Duluth area so the train museum had special meaning for me, but this is a great museum and I just loved the old storefronts they made to make it look authentic to the time period. Well worth the visit! And as an added bonus, there was a wedding happening while we were there! ❤️
MoreOne of the best train museums we have ever visited. We are rail fans and have visited countless rail museums and depots. This one ranks very high on our list. Fascinating collection that incorporates local history. Sufficient information about the artifacts provided without becoming overwhelming. Friendly and helpful staff. Child-friendly. A bit tricky to find, particularly for the non-resident visitor to figure out parking, but well worth the effort.
MoreWorst ride ever. Totally ripped off. Go there early as possible. Don’t stay on top level , windows are dirty and foggy . There is nothing to see.
MoreThis isn't just one thing, but several. Most of our time was spent in the St. Louis County Historical Society exhibits. These are free and super well done. We learned a lot about the history of Duluth. Also in here are some galleries, as well as a ballet and a theatre. Neither of those had any performances while we were there, but they looked very nice.In the bottom of the building is the North Shore Railroad Museum. We didn't go in here because of time, but it had a lot of trains from all different times, as well as the trains you can ride (we were debating taking a train ride, but didn't buy tickets ahead of time and they were sold out the day of).
